Steven Spalding is an Affiliated Consultant with KMK Consulting. He is also President of Point A Consulting. He has over 30 years of economic development experience.
Steven was the founding President and CEO of the Louisville Medical Center Development Corporation, a non-profit organization established to exploit the technology assets of the Louisville Medical Center partners: University of Louisville, Jewish Hospital, St. Mary’s Healthcare and Norton Healthcare. While with the LMCDC, Steven oversaw the development and maturation of the organization from business plan concept to presently encompass over $2.5 Million in consolidated revenues and 13 employees in parent and subsidiary entities.
Steven was the Chief of staff to the Greater Louisville Visioning Committee (a.k.a. “The Boyle Report”), a transformational initiative jointly sponsored by the former Chamber of Commerce and Greater Louisville Economic Development Partnership. This Committee set highly focused economic development priorities to drive the community’s growth in BioMedical/Healthcare, Logistics/Distribution, and Entrepreneurship and created the blueprint for the merger of the Chamber and Partnership into today’s Greater Louisville Inc.
Steven also served as Director of Program Development and Economic Analyst with the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation, representing the City of Philadelphia’s interests in the transfer of 110-acre Frankford Arsenal from military to civilian use. He was responsible for directing programming of $225 million, three-year capital investment strategy to support the City’s economic development programs, preparing and administering federal grant applications exceeding $30 million and managing a two-year federally-funded demonstration program to coordinate implementation of federal agency initiatives with the City’s economic development strategy.
Steven received a BA in Geography / Urban Studies with emphasis on regional economic development from Antioch College and a Master of City Planning with concentration in urban economics and management science from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of several professional organizations and is involved in a number of civic activities in Louisville, Kentucky.
