An Affiliated Consultant, Terry Ryan served 13 years as President & CEO of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce. His most significant initiative in his tenure as CEO was the development and implementation of a strategic plan for a major economic development program. This program is still fundamentally in place and continues to serve as the blueprint to lead and guide Fort Worth's economic expansion efforts today.

During his long and successful tenure at the Fort Worth Chamber(1988-2001), he was elected Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) and also was the recipient of the Texas Chambers' Martin Hurley Award.

After retiring from the Fort Worth Chamber, Terry first served as a director of a major (now sold) community Fort Worth Bank. Currently he serves as senior advisor to the President of the University of Texas at Arlington, as well as an advisory director of a new and largest capitalized, locally owned Fort Worth bank.

Prior to his work as a Chamber executive, Terry had a 25 year banking career, beginning with the flagship bank of First Midwest Bankshares, and subsequently, The Northern Trust Co. , Chicago, and the United Banks of Colorado (UBD) in Denver for 21 years. At UBD, Terry served in many capacities including credit and investment analysis, Vice President of Correspondent Banking, and development of a Community Affairs & Communications Dept. Ryan was appointed president of a newly acquired bank in 1973, later becoming responsible for the management and supervision of several of UBD’S banks. Additionally, Mr. Ryan was selected to lead the development of the corporation’s first strategic plan in 1981-82.

In 1984 he relocated to Fort Worth to start a new bank. During this time he also served as a director for three banks of the First Midwest BankShares, including the bank where he had started his career. In 1987 he became Managing Director of Korn Ferry's Executive Search activities in North Texas, Oklahoma, & Colorado activities, prior to his election by Fort Worth business leaders to lead the Forth Worth Chamber.

Among Ryan’s civic leadership activities: Denver’s Childrens’ Hospital Board of Directors(1975-1983. Chairman1978-1981); Fort Worth Cook’s Childrens’ Hospital Board (1984-1994); Downtown Fort Worth Inc. Board (1983-1988), Chairman (1986-1988). All of these activities were focused on strategic planning, major changes and fundraising.

Terry graduated from Yale University and completed additional work at the Aspen Institute, as well as an Advanced Management Program at Stanford University. Terry also served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.
