KMKC to Provide Strategic Advice for $32 Million Advantage Carolina Flagships
Cincinnati, December 15, 2000- KMK Consulting Company (KMKC) is proud to announce that it has been retained by Advantage Carolina, Inc. to provide strategic advice with respect to its $32 million private sector initiative to capitalize the Advantage Carolina Flagships. KMK Consulting had previously been retained to provide a major analysis focusing on financial modeling, priorities, timing, and leadership succession.
The Advantage Carolina strategic plan is designed to strengthen the ability of the region's public and private sector to accelerate economic growth. The Advantage Carolina Flagships are eighteen initiatives to ensure Charlotte's continued economic prosperity. They focus on a variety of different issues in several industry clusters: education; transportation; financial services; high growth manufacturing; professional services; innovative technology; travel and entertainment services; environmental concerns; and workforce development.

Under the direction of the Advantage Carolina Leadership Board, a group of 40 of the most prominent Charlotte businesspeople, significant progress is being made on the initiatives presented in the plan. The current phase is being led by Ken Thompson, CEO First Union, Jim Hance, CFO of Bank of America, and Ed Shelton, CEO The Shelton Companies.
