KMK Consulting Company Retained by Tampa Bay Partnership
Cincinnati, April 20, 2002- KMK Consulting Company is proud to announce that it has been retained to direct the major strategic planning process for the Tampa Bay Partnership, one of the largest private sector economic development corporations in the United States, a seven-county, 3.3 million population region. The Partnership focuses on marketing, workforce, transportation and public policy to sustain the Tampa Bay Region as one of the most competitive markets in the United States. Beyond strategic planning, KMK Consulting Company's work will include building a budget, as well as reinventing its corporate development and investor affairs operation. As highlighted in the April issue of Florida Trend Magazine, Tampa’s economic development leaders began an effort a decade ago to diversify the city’s traditional economic strengths of tourism, agriculture and construction. The dedication and work of these leaders has generated tremendous success to date. According to the United States Department of Labor’s October 2001 Metropolitan Area Employment and Unemployment report, from October 2000 to October 2001, Tampa Bay led all U.S. urban areas in net job growth, up 3.8% (46,000 jobs). Also, a July 2001 U.S. Department of Labor Bureau report found that Tampa Bay claims 1 in every 10 new jobs in the U.S. This growth occurred from July 2000 to July 2001, despite the country’s overall economic slowdown.
