KMKC Retained to Assist in Reinvention of Scottsdale Chamber
Cincinnati, May 30, 2001-- KMK Consulting Company (KMKC) is proud to announce that it has been retained by the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce to provide strategic advice with respect to its reinvention, focusing on its revenue model and related issues that would most effectively compliment a new organizational structure, new mission, new programs and new value proposition.
This reinvention reflects the dynamic and exploding growth of Scottsdale. Its historically strong base of upscale tourism has seen a period of vast and successful real estate development now followed by significant business growth, much of it technology based. Moreover, the Scottsdale Airport’s Airpark has evolved into one of Monicopa County’s dominant geographic business clusters.
The Scottsdale Chamber will continue to focus its energies on the areas of business recruitment, retention, and expansion. It will attract new members by promoting the benefits of the Chamber and the ability of member companies to leverage these benefits into competitive advantages and become driving forces in the community. Retention is maximized when the Chamber promotes each member’s business, their impact upon the economic success of the area, and the benefits associated with being members of the Chamber. Finally, the success of any Chamber and its community is largely dependent upon the ability to expand the business base of the community.
As the Scottsdale Chamber becomes a much more focused "Business Alliance," it will be grounded in the principles of leveraging resources and talent, providing a better chance of success in advocating public policy, attracting new business, sustaining the business environment and in delivering small business services. The Scottsdale Chamber will also serve as the community’s primary source of leadership development. This leadership continuum reflects the new Chamber leading for business with businesses leading the Chamber. Reflecting this narrowed focus as business advocate, the nationally renowned Scottsdale Convention and Visitors Bureau has been spun out of the Chamber as a separate corporation.
Jim McGraw, Managing Director of KMK Consulting said, "I am honored to be given the opportunity to work with the Scottsdale Chamber again. I have worked on two major initiatives for the Scottsdale Partnership over the past fifteen years and believe I’ve developed a strong familiarity with the Chamber, its leadership and members and this wonderful community."

About the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce
The Scottsdale Chamber was chartered on March 6, 1947 and its main charge was to serve as the town government: raising money for the Community Chest; initiating and funding projects such as paving the streets; sponsoring community events; and actively working to attract businesses and visitors to give the community an economic boost. In 1951, the Chamber turned its focus to business, tourism and community-oriented issues and programs. More than 50 years later, the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce has matured into a world-class organization with 2,400 member businesses and a thriving Scottsdale Partnership organization which coordinates the community’s fast paced economic development agenda.
